SGF Meets Ministers Over Health Workers Strike

comments
by AIT / 10 months ago / Nation
The Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Boss Mustapha, on Tuesday, held a high level meeting with three ministers in an effort to avert the nationwide strike by health workers.

Boss Mustapha

The three ministers in attendance were those of Labour and Employment, Chris Ngige, that of Health, Isaac Adewole and Minister of Information, Lai Mohammed.

Health workers under the Joint Health Sector had issued a threat to begin a nationwide strike by midnight Tuesday at the expiration of a 30-day ultimatum issued over the delay in the implementation of adjusted consolidated health salary structure among other demands.

Government had appealed for time as the full implementation of the adjusted salary structure will gulp about 22 billion Naira.

Meanwhile, the health workers had said  that only a commitment through a circular from The Federal Government directing the appropriate authorities   to begin payment of the allowances will make them suspend or call off the strike.
