Lokogoma Road Abandoned
Six months after contractors moved to site to save the network of roads in Lokogoma district of Abuja, the nation's capital, from total collapse, the project appears to have been abandoned when construction work should be on going with the stoppage of the rains. The roads are in their worst state of disrepair including the bridge that claimed the lives of three members of one family in the area last year.

Since June 2018, this is what the contractor handling the Lokogoma roads project has been able to achieve. The grading of the road on the outskirts did not however extend to other network of roads within the district as residents say they are still suffering from the impact of the dilapidated roads.
Despite the flood incident of august 2017 that claimed the lives of three members of the community, no repairs have been affected on the bridge. The deplorable state of the roads have also turned Lokogoma into a shadow of itself, as most business owners have been forced to relocate while commercial motorcycle operators continue to charge exorbitant fares.
Authorities of the federal capital development authority (FCDA) are often not willing to speak on the project but the residents want the contractor back to site to fix the road before the next rainy season in order to save the densely populated district from another tragedy.
