Human Rights Group Challenges INEC On Effective Framework For 2023 Elections

A civil society group, the Committee for the Defence of Human Rights, Akure chapter, has challenged the Federal Government and the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, to put an effective framework in place to ensure credible 2023 general election.

Human Rights Group Challenges INEC On Effective Framework For 2023 Elections

The immediate past Chairman of the group, Comrade Wole Olorunsuyi, made the call during the biannual convention of the human rights organisation in Akure, Ondo State capital on Monday.

According to Olorunsuyi, the menace of vote buying and poor welfare of the INEC ad hoc staff, which marred the outcome of the last general election, must be discouraged.

He, however, called on the Federal Government and INEC to prepare an effective framework that would help Nigeria conduct free, fair, and credible elections in the future.

Other participants at the event also called on Nigerians to shun greed and be united to promote the common cause of voting only credible and patriotic leaders into power.
