Stroke is an important cause of death among youths especially in a developing country like Nigeria. A total of 71 patients, age between 18-40 years comprising 73% male and 23% female are affected by stoke as a result of stress. For this reason, Physicians, Neurosurgeons and Anatomists converged in Abuja to educate both Residents and Fellows in Neuro-imaging techniques and how to manage the patients properly.

An expert explained, saying;

“This course is just to help doctors in the specialties of radiology, neurology and neurosurgery in the diagnosis and treatment of patients that have diseases such as stroke which kills a lot of Nigerians, some of whom are young and road traffic accident with head injury”

Participants at the event urged the Federal government and Members of the National Assembly to fully support the cause as it will reduce the rising cases of stroke

“The government should be serious enough to have these simple machines here”

Multidisciplinary team of physicians on radiology, neurosurgery and anatomy will train medical experts in the use of different imaging modalities for the examination of the brain and spinal cord.
