Governor Al-Makura launches employment programme for youths in Nassarawa state, Nigeria
The Nasarawa state government has commenced training of 1,470 (one thousand four hundred and seventy) youths in the state as part of its Youth Empowerment Scheme.
Governor Tanko Almakura made this known at the take off of the programme in Keffi, one of the state foremost towns.
The Governor, represented by the Special Adviser on youth empowerment, Murtala Adogi, said the programme, which is the first phase is aimed at creating employment and address youth problems.
According to Adogi, the government will spend over N40 million on the programme.
Some of the trainees who spoke with AIT were full of praises on the gesture of the Governor to reduce unemployment in the state.
For them, “the training is very important” because it affords them the opportunity “to help the community and environment”.
The youths are to earn a stipend of N10,000 monthly.
