Cross River State Governor, Professor Ben Ayade says extremists and armed rebellions from the southern Cameroon have taken over the ceded Bakassi Penisular thereby making Riverine Communities in Cross River State their abode.

Gov. Ayade Raises Alarm Over Maritime Insecurity

Speaking at the Magret Ekpo International Airport Calabar on his arrival from the republic of Togo in Lome, where he accompanied President Buhari to ECOWAS/ECCA Security Summit, Ayade said the Federal Government and International attention is urgently needed before the issue gets out hand.

The Governor said the issue is beyond the carry capacity of the State, hence the need for a quick intervention by the Federal Government

Insecurity along the Bakassi Penisular where some Nigerians live and do legal businesses is on the increase  with some of them being killed by the Cameroonians against the backdrop of the quest to declare the  Ambazonian Republic in October 2018.
