Mr Umaru Manko, the Assistant Inspector-General of Police

Mr Umaru Manko, the Assistant Inspector-General of Police, Zone 2, on Wednesday said the zone had adequate logistics and manpower to curtail any breakdown of law and order during the general elections.

Manko made the assertion while speaking with reporters on the command’s readiness for the elections in Lagos.

"The logistics and manpower are enough to curtail any breakdown of law and order for the elections holding in February.

'The zone has put in place security measures that will ensure hitch-free general elections.

"This equally applies to all the commands under Lagos and Ogun States.

"Adequate security is in place in these commands to secure lives and property during and after the elections, '' he said.

Manko also said that officers and men of the force had been tutored on how to handle situations at polling booths.

"Officers and men are already being trained on their functions at the polling booths and also we have a code of conduct.

"The code of conduct entails how an officer should behave during and after elections.

"Also it contains how an officer should coordinate, supervise and ensure no breakdown of law and order during and after elections,'’ he said.

Manko said the command would not relent in securing the zone and ensuring compliance with election rules and regulations.
